One of the most important aspects of protection on the Internet involves your identity. Your computer's IP address is logged whenever you connect to a website and it can be used by all sorts of people with malicious intent. Avira is perfectly aware of this issue, which is why they have rolled out Phantom VPN. Its purpose is to redirect your Internet traffic through a secure server, so that websites will pick up a different IP, instead of your own.

Avira Phantom VPN can be used free of charge for a maximum traffic of 500 MB. If you have the Avira Launcher installed on your computer, you only need to click the Phantom VPN on the launcher panel and the application will be installed right away, without the need for any further user input.

The application displays a compact control panel, in the lower right corner of the screen and Avira Phantom VPN will redirect your traffic right away. The software will connect you to a default server, but you can bring up a few general configuration options, on the same panel and select a server from a country of your choice. Additionally, you can set the application to send diagnostics data and to start automatically with the operating system.

You may notice a slight loss of browsing speed while you are connected to a VPN, but you will benefit from a high grade protection system. Every website you visit will log another IP address, instead of your own, so your identity will stay safe. This is also a good way to bypass region-related restrictions. For example, you can view a web video that is not available in your country.

With Avira Phantom VPN at your side, a single click is all it takes to protect your identity.

Pros

You can connect to a VPN with a single click. The software lets you choose between different servers, from various countries.

Cons

Your connection speed may suffer while you are connected to a VPN.
